Apple Pay Cash Frequently Asked Questions

To set up Apple Pay Cash, you must be at least 18-years-old and a resident of the United States. You also need:

  • An iPhone SE, iPhone 6 and later, Apple Watch, iPad Pro, iPad (5th Generation), iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 or later.
  • Two-factor authentication for your Apple ID. Make sure that you sign in to iCloud and iMessage with the same Apple ID on any device that you want to use to send or receive money.
  • Your OAS FCU Visa Debit Card set up in your Wallet app.

Then, open a conversation in iMessage, tap , tap , review the Terms and Conditions, and select “Agree.” (You might be asked to verify your identity.)

After you set up Apple Pay Cash, you can add money to your balance using the OAS FCU Debit Card*.

Here's how to add money:

1. Go to your card info:

  • iPhone and iWatch: Open the Wallet app, tap your Apple Pay Cash card, then tap
  • iPad: Open the Settings app, tap Wallet & Apple Pay, then tap your Apple Pay Cash card.

2. On the Info tab, select “Add Money.”

3. Enter an amount no less than $10.

4. Select “Add,” and enter your OAS FCU VISA Debit Card* information.

5. When you’re ready, confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.

You can see your updated balance in the upper-right corner.

Limits to add money from your OAS FCU Debit Card are as follows:

  • Per transaction, you can add a minimum of $10
  • Per transaction, you can add up to $3,000**
  • Within a 7-day period, you can add a maximum of $10,000**

*Money sent using a debit card or your Apple Pay Cash balance doesn’t incur a fee.

**The daily limit allowed for purchases and/or payments using your OAS FCU Debit Card is $2,000. You can request a temporary limit increase through your home banking. For members in Brazil, the daily limit for purchases and/or payments is $600.

If you have money on your Apple Pay Cash card, you will use this balance automatically when sending money. If you don't have enough for the payment, or don’t have a balance at all, the card* linked to your Apple Pay Cash account will be the payment method used to cover the transaction. You will see which card is being used on the confirmation screen.

Here's how to send money in an iMessage with an iPhone or iPad:

1. In iMessage, start a new conversation or select an existing one.

2. Tap , then tap .

3. To choose an amount, tap or . To enter an exact amount, select “Show Keypad.”

4. Select “Pay.” Adding a message to go with the payment is optional.

5. Tap . Then review the payment information or cancel, if incorrect. Your balance in Apple Pay Cash will be used to pay, first.

6. To send the payment, confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.

Here’s how to send money using an iWatch:

1. In Messages, start a new conversation or tap an existing one.

2. Scroll down, then tap

3. To choose an amount, turn the Digital Crown. To enter an exact amount, tap the dollar amount, tap after the decimal, then turn the Digital Crown.

4. Tap Pay. To review the payment information or cancel, scroll down. Your money in Apple Pay Cash will be used to pay first.

5. To send the payment, double-click the side button.

  • Per message, you can send up to $3,000**
  • Within a 7-day period, you can send a maximum of $10,000**

If your OAS FCU Debit Card has already been added to your wallet (link to how to add card to wallet) but you don’t see it on the confirmation screen, here's how you can make it the default payment method:

1. Tap next to your credit or debit card on the confirmation screen.

2. Choose your OAS FCU Debit Card. If the payment is split, you will see two cards on the payment sheet: your Apple Pay Cash card and your Credit Union Debit Card.

*Apple Pay Cash is free when using a Debit Card, otherwise there will be a 3% credit card fee on the amount funded.

It's just as easy to request money as it is to send money. When the other person gets your request, they can select “Pay,” then change or confirm the amount that they want to send.

Here's how to send a request with an iPhone:

1. Open a conversation in Messages.

2. Tap , then tap .

3. Choose an amount, then select “Request.” Adding a message to go with the request is optional.

4. To send, tap .

Here’s how to sends a request with an iWatch:

Ask Siri to send your friend a payment request or go to the Messages app. Say something like "Ask John for $14 for lunch." To send you money, the recipient can tap the dollar amount in the message.

Here’re the limits to receive money:

  • Per message, you can receive a minimum of $1
  • Per message, you can receive up to $3,000
  • Within a 7-day period, you can receive a maximum of $10,000

When someone sends you money, it's automatically received and securely kept in Apple Pay Cash. You can either transfer the cash to your OAS FCU account or use it to make purchases using Apple Pay in stores, through apps and on the web.

Here's how to add your OAS FCU account information and make a transfer:

1. Go to your card info:

  • iPhone: Open the Wallet app, tap your Apple Pay Cash card, then tap
  • iPad: Open the Settings app, tap Wallet & Apple Pay, then tap your Apple Pay Cash card.

2. Tap the Info tab, then select “Transfer to Bank.”

3. If you haven’t already added your Credit Union account, select “Add Bank Account.” Enter 254075069 under routing number and then your OAS FCU account number. Remember to use the 01 or 60 suffix to indicate in which account you wish to receive the money.

5. In the upper-right corner, select “Transfer.”

6. Confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode.

Here’re the limits to transfer money to your OAS FCU account:

  • You can transfer a minimum of $1 to your Credit Union account, or your full balance if it's under $1.
  • You can transfer up to $3,000 to your Credit Union account in a single transfer.
  • Within a 7-day period, you can transfer up to $20,000 to your Credit Union account.
